BELTON - In early 1945, while WWII was still winding up abroad, Mary-Hardin Baylor College (now UMHB) was celebrating its 100th year. Mrs. Gordon C. Singleton, the wife of the college president, made over a dozen dolls for the occasion. Having come through many years unscathed, these dolls now live in the UMHB alumni museum at the university. Two of them represent the college president and his wife. The others are all female, as was the student body at the time, and are dressed in costumes from a variety of historical periods. ¶
