Miniature Jets Zoom Near Waco

WACO - The Heart of Texas Model Airplane Club takes doll-sized aviation up a level, especially with their jet rally. Last year several representatives from Dollport visited the rally and witnessed flyers manning dozens of miniature jet fighters and similar aircraft. These planes are only a few feet long but are equipped with with real turbine engines and capable of flying at great speed. We estimated a fairly gentle flyby to be roughly 130 Mph and were told the planes can fly at speeds up to 200 Mph. This year's rally is scheduled for Sept. 4-6 at the club's 800-foot miniature aircraft runway. Spectators were welcomed freely last time. ¶
